Winter Pruning

Winter Pruning

Why prune your trees during the winter?
Winter is a great time to prune your trees. Ken’s Tree Care can determine potential weaknesses and dangers. We will examine your trees for stress cracks, weak branches and other subtle indicators of potential hazards including checking the trees for dead or partially attached limbs hung up in higher branches that could fall and cause damage or injury during a storm.

Increased Access
Frozen ground allows better access to areas the arborist normally would not be able to reach. With hard ground, heavy equipment can be moved closer to the tree without damaging lawns or sensitive areas of your landscape. Having the equipment closer to the tree saves time and money.

Improved Visibility
Without foliage, it is easier to spot structural problems and make pruning decisions. Arborists can evaluate the structural integrity of your trees and identify any issues more accurately. Without heavy leaves, clean up is less time consuming and therefore cheaper.

Dormant Pruning Advantage
Plants are dormant during the winter, meaning fresh wounds will only be exposed for a short amount of time. Pruning trees during the winter months allows the wounds to close faster than they would in the summer.

Perks and Convenience
Take advantage of a free estimate and 10% discount at Ken’s Tree Care during these winter months. With less outdoor projects than in the spring and summer, why not reserve tree trimming for winter. Reduced outdoor activity presents fewer obstacles.
